Apple recently launched a new update to its MacBook Air and MacBook Pro
laptops ? updates that came with a ton of fanfare and rave reviews over
their speed and battery life.
What makes these new MacBooks so special is that they mark the debut of
the M1 chip, an Arm-based processor designed by Apple specifically to
optimize performance on its Mac lineup. This marks a big departure from
Apple’s reliance on Intel chips, with plans to have every new Mac powered
by so-called Apple Silicon within two years.
But that dramatic difference comes with a few hiccups that could make
Apple’s newest laptops less appealing, at least in the short term, to the
community of developers who have long relied on the MacBook Pro to build
