Meta-owned Facebook is reportedly testing a new ability in the platform that will allow you to add up to five profiles, which will be tied to a single main account.
Besides, this ability was also rumored at the beginning of this year, but now after a half year, the company has confirmed its testing and unveiled some details.
Facebook Could Soon Allow You To Create 5 Profiles With One Account
According to a report from TechCrunch, Facebook has been testing an ability that will allow users to explore more on the platform with different feeds and niches. And it will also allow you to join various groups.
This upcoming feature is expected to allow you to use a different username and name for other profiles, and it is not compulsory to name your profile with the main account. Still, it will not allow you to use any numbers or special characters.
As TechCrunch mentioned the statement from Facebook spokesperson Leonard Lam that says, “To help people tailor their experience based on interests and relationships, we’re testing a way for people to have more than one profile tied to a single Facebook account.”
Besides, you have to follow all the guidelines to use these multiple accounts, and some features will only be exclusive to the main account, such as Facebook Dating and creating & manage a Page.
Multiple profiles don’t allow you to spam or break policies, and if Facebook finds out about any violation activity, it will also impact your main profile.
As the report said, in action, it can remove the profile or all profiles, and in case your primary account can also face termination.
You can understand this ability as Instagram allows users to create multiple profiles with a single account. When you log in to this single account, you’ll get access to the other profiles that are tied with the account.
