Apple is finally rolling out the community safety messages feature globally. The Community Safety feature is especially for children; it prevents them from viewing or sharing nude images.
Last year in December, the feature was made available in the US, but now it will be available in the UK, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand.
The Communication Safety feature for messages automatically detects and blurs nude images received on a child’s device.
Child Safety Feature Will Blur Nude Images From Kid’s Apple Device
However, the feature is off by default, so parents need to activate it at any time on their child’s Apple device.
Apple has announced that the feature is coming soon in the UK to iPhones. AppleInsider reports that Community Safety in messages is also coming to Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.
It is not known when it will come to other markets. As this feature is meant for the kid’s safety, Apple will soon bring it to all markets.
How To Activate Community Safety Feature in Messages?
To use the Communication safety in messages, you need to have the Apple devices running on the latest iOS 15.2 or later; if you have an iPad, then iPadOS 15.2, macOS Monterey 12.1 or above.
- Make sure your device is running on the latest iOS.
- Parents need to register the device with Apple ID and add it to the Family Sharing group.
- Look for the Screen Time settings on Apple devices and select the child’s device.
- Then select Communication Safety and Turn On Check for Sensitive Photos settings.
- For the device which is selected, it might ask the screen time passcode.
Once you have done this, the Messages app will blur nude images automatically. Kids below 13 years will be asked to get in touch with their parents or guardians.
