Apple Files Patent to Bring A New Feature on AirPods Pro

Apple Files Patent to Bring A New Feature on AirPods Pro

Apple is expected to release AirPods Pro 2 True Wireless Stereo headphones later this year. The Cupertino-based tech giant has filed a new patent to add a new feature, automatic transparency mode on Airpods Pro.

The feature is titled “Interrupt for noise-canceling audio devices.” It will let users determine in advance if the Active Noise Cancellation feature should get paused.

An analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that AirPods Pro 2 earbuds could launch in around Q3 of 2022. One of the main differences between the regular AirPods and Pro model is the ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) feature.

Transparency mode is a useful feature; it enables you to hear background noises while listening to music on the AirPods Pro. However, it does not filter the background noises; you will hear all background noise once you turn on the transparency mode.

The users can set the feature to be interrupted by one or more pre-defined contacts. It means the ANC feature will be active for the AirPods Pro, but when the user comes in contact with someone who is in the contact list, that is allowed to interrupt. Then the AirPods will switch to Transparency Mode.

As the patent notes, the feature is not limited to contacts only; the system can also recognize important sounds like police or ambulance sirens. These sounds can set as triggers to switch the mode.

Originally, Apple has filed the patent last year in July. It is just an indication that the company is working to bring this feature on AirPods Pro. There is no guarantee that it will make it to AirPods or not.

Apple is expected to launch AirPods Pro 2 with many other Apple products this year. It is said that TWS earbuds might come with a revamped design and new health-related features.
