The Pirate Bay, a file-sharing Swedish website, will be turned into a six-part TV drama series. A Swedish production will start filming next year and will be aired by public channel SVT.
The makers of the series will put stories from various insiders, but the founders of the site will not be a part of the crew. Peter Sunde, the co-founder of Pirate Bay, informed that he is working on his own film project about the site.
The Story of The Pirate Bay will be Seen on Television
The TV drama will show the story of the file-sharing site, how The Pirate Bay came into inception, and more. It will also show how the founders of the website Peter Sunde, Fredrik Neij, and Gottfrid Swartholm went to jail.
Piotr Marciniak will write the script of the TV series, who also wrote the script for Allt jap niet minns. The Pirate Bay series will be directed by Jens Sjogren, who also directed the Jag ar Zlatan documentary and others.
The Pirate Bay website was founded in 2003 by a Swedish. The idea to create the site was just a public file-sharing network in Sweden, but later the site became so popular among P2P apps. It was the most used tracker for many years.
However, the content industry was brutal and filed Lawsuits for piracy and copyright infringement, raids, and more things. Most of the pirate sites were hiding, but the founders of this site were well-known public figures who tease the entertainment industries. Then in 2014, the site was closed, but it returned after a year.
Soon the story of the most popular site will be seen on Television, written by Piotr Marciniak and directed by Jens Sjogren. The director promises to tell the story without making ethical judgments.
Jens Sjogren says,
“As an adult, you can think that you are so fucking involved in the match, but just like with the climate movement, it was the youth who got to teach the old dogs to sit. This was the key that unlocked all information for an entire generation. At the same time, we had officials at Government Offices who could barely send emails to each other. It is a story about a Sweden that faced a new reality.”
If you are unaware, in 2003, the TBP torrent site allowed the users to search, download, and contribute magnet links and torrent files.
